Informal released their August crop production forecasts this morning. In an unusual move they offered two different projections, one apparently seeking to estimate USDA's Aug estimate and the other projecting what they believe will be the FINAL US production totals.

The corn data is a complete shocker. To offer perspective, the acreage figure is roughly 4 mil higher than many believed would be possible. This represents 600 mil bushels! This is more than half of pre-report expectations of new-crop carryout! Without a weather problem, traders will be seeking to redefine "big picture" downside ...

US Wheat Carryout up 57 mil from last month.
Global Wheat Carryout up 5.9 mmt.
*Wheat will be called lower.
US Corn Carryout down 50 mil.
Interesting that corn use for ethanol was raised by 100 mil. Some will ponder if this is an indication of a change in blend rates.
