Fighting Glyphosate-resistant Palmer Pigweed

It is well known that one of the steps in an integrated weed resistance management program is to practice crop rotation.  However, in many areas in the mid-south and south, that hasn’t been a very profitable option.  A Delta Farm Press article published recently discusses a new alternative for growers finding themselves in this situation, rotating to switchgrass.

With alternative fuel sources rising in demand, switchgrass is becoming a more valuable crop, and growers can take advantage of this trend by including it in a rotation with their cotton or soybeans, also boosting the efficiency of these crops.  Especially with the threat of glyphosate-resistant Palmer pigweed on the rise, including switchgrass in the rotation may make more sense to certain growers.
