Resistance Success Stories…

Syngenta recently asked growers and retailers around the U.S. about their resistance challenges, which yielded some interesting results.  We will continue to address this topic in the coming weeks, and today we offer a summary of a few key findings from what growers are reporting they’re doing:

¨      Educating themselves on resistance to have a good understanding of management techniques

¨      Practicing crop and chemical rotations, as well as using full rates and tank mixes

¨      Using pre-emergence, residual herbicides, such as Lumax®, Lexar®, Prefix™ and Reflex®, and spraying weeds early

¨      Scouting fields as a part of a resistance management plan

¨      Although resistance may not be occurring on certain fields currently, it is believed to be around the corner so growers and retailers are preparing for it now

Theses management concerns all tie-in with what Syngenta recommends to fight glyphosate resistance.  Growers should remain proactive in their fight by implementing practices such as using a pre-emergence herbicide application, rotating crops and chemical modes of action, tank mixing and using full, labeled herbicide rates.  Visit the Syngenta Solutions Module for individualized recommendations for your weed challenges.

Lexar® and Lumax® are Restricted Use Pesticides.  Lexar®, Lumax®, Prefix™ and Reflex® are trademarks of a Syngenta Group Company.
