Knowledge is Power

The growing shift in perception about glyphosate resistance has caused growers to become more proactive in their resistance management, as yesterday’s post discusses.  The best way to fight resistance is to understand it – and there is no shortage of information out there.  One of the most effective management options available to growers is resistance education.  Many university Web sites, such as the Ohio State University Extension, Purdue University Extension, Washington State University Extension and Kansas State University Extension Web sites, serve as excellent resources for growers looking to learn the latest news and innovative, comprehensive recommendations to delay the onset of resistance.

Syngenta has been a pioneer in herbicide-resistance education and has developed several resources of its own.  The Resistance Fighter™ Web site is dedicated to those looking to find the best management strategies and share advice with weed resistance experts. The Resistance Management Solutions Module provides a resource for management options. personalized on a case-by-case basis.  The FarmAssist Web site is another Syngenta Web site that serves as a useful tool in the education game.

Another valuable resource is the International Survey of Herbicide Resistant Weeds, , sponsored by the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee, the North American Herbicide Resistance Action Committee and the Weed Science Society of America.  This informative Web site contains the most up-to-date status of verified resistant weeds around the world, submitted by university researchers.  The Resistance Fighter Web site uses many of the resources available on the site, such this map of glyphosate resistance in the U.S.

Which of these Web sites, if any, have you visited to learn about resistance?  Which did you find to be the most useful? What information provided was the most valuable to you? What answers are you still searching for?
