Weather and Weed Control

Freezing conditions, floods and a host of other weather-related problems in the Midwest and Mid-South have been causing growers difficulties this season, many of them ending up having to replant their corn crops.  As if the weather wasn’t a big enough problem, there are also weed control implications with replanting, as outlined in this article from Delta Farm Press.

In many areas, growers have had to kill glyphosate-tolerant corn that was still alive from the first planting.  At the time of replanting, the residual from pre-emergence herbicides is running out, which can result in weed flushes.  Add in resistant weeds and growers really have their hands full.

What have the weather conditions been like in your area this spring? Has weather affected your weed control so far?
